We approached our old house from the south, not its best side. Its sagging dormer and dowdy front windows always reminded me of a stout old woman. The new people hadn’t changed the screened porch or falling-down barn, and it had a lived-in look that we, as summer people, never achieved. We didn’t knock, so I don’t know what they changed inside. I never took pictures of the rooms, not thinking them photogenic. Now I’m left to come upon those former interiors unexpectedly, while leafing through old photo albums. I didn’t know how much I’d miss the house.text goes here
